Elite Development Triathlon Team

Each prospective athlete will complete a Personal Statement, describing your motivations to be a part of this elite development team – use the form below in 150 words or less. Athletes who apply for the team will be contact for a Zoom interview to review the details of their background and the information they provide below. The team size will be small, <10, so besides being able to embody the “athlete attributes” outlined previously, the following are more tangible criteria that can support your opportunity to join this team.

Team Entry Standards –

Ages – 18+ This team is not designed for junior athletes, under 18. At minimum, athletes must be at least 18 by the time they join this team and are in their senior year of high school. This team is designed more specifically for athletes who have aged out of the junior and are competing as a college age or post college age, athletes.

Elite License from any NGB – preferred but not necessary

Race Achievements: Please use the information below to list your race history over the past 2 years in the form below. High placings in any of these races can support the opportunity for you to join the team.

  • World Triathlon Continental Cup (F and M)
  • NCAA Nationals (F) – DI, DII and DIII
  • Junior Elite Nationals Top (F and M)   
  • Collegiate Club Nationals DL and Olympic (F and M)
  • NTDR Claremont, Fl (F and M) – either or both days
  • World University Games (F and M)
  • Age Group Nationals or Worlds – Sprint, Olympic or 70.3 (F and M)
  • Ironman, PTO or Family Circle Age Group or Pro/Elite race – 70.3 (F and M)

NCAA Coach Recommendation – If you are a female NCAA triathlete, I am happy to consider your NCAA coach’s recommendation as part of the acceptance process. Please email me a signed (scanned letter) at jhansentri1@gmail.com

Performance Center – Testing Criteria – Please use the information below to list your lab performance and field assessment history over the past 2 years in the form below. High values in any of these categories can support the opportunity for you to join the team.

  • Bike Lactate Threshold (OBLA) – Watts/Kg: 3.8> (F) and 4.2> (M)
  • Run Lactate Threshold (OBLA) – 6:20 min/mi (F) and 5:40 in/mi (M)

Field Assessment Criteria

  • Swim (F)  – 100-500 combo set: <1:06 and <6:10 and/or
    200-800 combo set: <2:25 and <10:30
  • Swim (M)  – 100-500 combo set: <1:03 and <5:30 and/or
    200-800 combo set: <2:15 and <9:45
  • Bike: FTP 210> (F) and 280> (M)
  • Run: 5k <18:45 (F) and <16:55 (M)  : 10K <39:00 (F) and 35:20 (M)
